Question 1

What is the cheapest HOA portal for a self-managed board?

Accepted Answer

The free HOAdesk plugin is a complete resident portal on the association's own WordPress site at no cost. HOAdesk Pro adds dues, payments, violations and voting for $299 a year or $29 a month, whatever the number of units; per-unit HOA software costs a 40-unit community around $1,920 a year.

Question 2

What is HOAdesk?

Accepted Answer

HOAdesk is a WordPress plugin that turns an association's own site into its resident portal: every unit with its owners and residents, one-click invitations, a documents library by audience, announcements, a calendar, meeting notices and minutes, maintenance requests and architectural requests with decision letters. Pro adds dues, card and ACH payments, violations, voting, reservations and resale packages.

Question 3

What problem does HOAdesk solve?

Accepted Answer

HOA software charges per unit, every month, forever, and keeps the association's records, ledgers and ballots on its own platform. HOAdesk gives a self-managed board the same tools on a site it owns, for one flat price regardless of the number of units.

Question 4

Do I need HOAdesk Pro?

Accepted Answer

No. The free plugin is the whole portal: units, owners and residents, invitations, the directory, documents by audience, announcements, calendar, meetings and minutes, maintenance requests and architectural requests with decision letters, without limits. Pro adds dues, payments, violations, ARC voting, reservations, elections, vendors, resale packages and reports.

Question 5

Do you charge per unit or per door?

Accepted Answer

No. One flat plan price whether the community has 12 units or 400. A 40-unit community paying $4 per unit per month to a SaaS spends $1,920 a year; HOAdesk Pro is $299.

Question 6

Where does the money go?

Accepted Answer

Straight into the association's own Stripe account. HOAdesk never touches, holds or takes a cut of payments; Stripe's normal card and ACH fees apply. Owners can pay from a bank account once ACH Direct Debit is on in Stripe, and the board records cheques and cash on the ledger with the same numbered receipt.

Question 7

Who can see what?

Accepted Answer

Each document, announcement, event and meeting has an audience: everyone, residents and owners, owners only, or board only. Files live outside the public uploads folder and are streamed only to people allowed to open them. Residents get WordPress accounts when you invite them; they only set a password.

Question 8

Is electronic voting legally compliant?

Accepted Answer

HOAdesk records one ballot per unit, weights, proxies with the signed form, quorum, timestamps and a receipt code for every ballot, and exports the audit trail. Whether electronic voting is permitted, and on what notice, is set by your state law and governing documents; check with your attorney.

Question 9

What happens if I cancel Pro?

Accepted Answer

Pro features and updates pause seven days after the subscription lapses. Nothing is deleted: ledgers, violations, ballots and reservations stay readable and the free plugin keeps running the portal. Payments already started in Stripe are still recorded.

Question 10

Is HOAdesk free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The free edition of HOAdesk is the complete product with nothing locked or time-limited. HOAdesk Pro is a paid add-on with these plans: Pro – monthly at $29 / mo, Pro – yearly at $299 / yr, Agency – monthly at $89 / mo, Agency – yearly at $899 / yr.

Question 11

What does HOAdesk Pro add?

Accepted Answer

HOAdesk Pro adds dues and assessments, card and ACH payments, violations logged from a phone, ARC board voting, amenity reservations, elections and motions, vendor compliance, resale and estoppel packages, reports, and automatic updates with a license key. Pro covers one community, Agency covers unlimited communities and one activation covers a whole WordPress network.

Question 12

Accepted Answer

HOAdesk is a WordPress plugin. It requires WordPress 6.6 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer. It works with Stripe.
