TagEasy for WordPress documentation

Current version 0.1.0 · WordPress 6.0+ · PHP 7.4+ · Updated October 18, 2026

TagEasy for WordPress connects a site to TagEasy: a free tracking audit, a Google Tag Manager install that never touches your theme, GA4-schema events from your forms and WooCommerce, Consent Mode v2 done right, and tracking health inside wp-admin.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer.
  • A free TagEasy account for the GTM install and monitoring. The audit needs no account.

Install

  1. Install from the Plugins screen when listed, or upload the tageasy zip under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate.
  2. Open TagEasy in the admin menu.

Quick start

  1. Click Run free audit. You get a score out of 100 with a pass/fail list: GTM, GA4, Consent Mode v2, ad pixels, PII in URLs, script weight, HTTPS, duplicate properties, each with the fix.
  2. Click Connect TagEasy account, sign in or create a free account, and approve the connection. The plugin loads your container on every page, excludes logged-in administrators, and refuses to double-load when Site Kit, GTM4WP, WPCode or the theme already has one.
  3. Review the Settings tab: administrator exclusion, Consent Mode defaults, and which events to send.
  4. Check the Overview tab or the dashboard widget for your tracking score, which events fired in the last 7 days, open alerts and plan usage.

Events it sends

  • generate_lead on successful submits from Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Elementor Pro Forms and Fluent Forms.
  • WooCommerce: view_item, view_item_list, add_to_cart, remove_from_cart, begin_checkout, add_payment_info, purchase (once per order, skipped for failed or cancelled orders), for the classic and the Blocks cart and checkout.
  • phone_click and email_click on tel: and mailto: links.

Consent Mode v2 defaults are set before any tag loads: denied for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland until they consent, granted elsewhere. With Complianz, CookieYes or Cookiebot active, TagEasy leaves consent to them and says so on the Setup tab. With any banner that supports the WP Consent API, consent choices are forwarded to Google.

Plans

Every feature in the plugin works on the free plan. Paid plans on tageasy.io add more sites, higher event volume, container audits, server-side tagging and alerting. Nothing in the plugin is locked behind a payment.
