Revenue Recon

Know whether your purchase tracking is actually working, order by order.

WordPress 6.4+ · PHP 8.1+ · WooCommerce · WordPress

Revenue Recon, Health: GA4 match rate, revenue invisible to GA4 by reason, and the match-rate trend with site changes marked.

The problem

GA4 and the ad platforms never match WooCommerce revenue, and nobody can say why. Declined consent, ad blockers, thank-you pages that never loaded, duplicate tags and late payments all hide inside one gap, so ad budgets are judged on numbers nobody trusts.

What we built

Revenue Recon looks up every paid order in GA4 by transaction ID and gives it a verdict with a reason code: matched, consent denied, ad blocker or script failure, thank-you page not loaded, duplicate fire, revenue or currency mismatch, refund not sent, late processing. A thank-you page beacon under 4 KB, setting no cookies, records what actually rendered and what the tags sent.

Meta and Google Ads expose no per-order data, so for them it compares daily totals with your order ledger and labels the gap as estimated. Verdicts show up where you already work: a Tracking column on the orders list, a box on every order, a dashboard widget and a Site Health test that turns critical when paid orders stop reaching GA4.

The free plugin stores everything locally and contacts no third party until you connect an account. Revenue Recon Pro adds 180-day history, alerts, change correlation and server-side recovery of missed purchases.

Capabilities

Everything Revenue Recon does today.

  1. Per-order GA4 verification

Every paid order is looked up in GA4 by transaction ID. You get a match rate and, for every missed order, a reason code.

  2. Reason codes, not guesses

    MATCHED, CONSENT_DENIED, ADBLOCK_OR_SCRIPT_FAIL, THANKYOU_NOT_LOADED, DUPLICATE_FIRE, REVENUE_MISMATCH, CURRENCY_MISMATCH, REFUND_NOT_SENT, LATE_PROCESSING and more, each with confidence and stage.

  3. Thank-you page beacon

Under 4 KB and cookie-free, it records whether the page rendered, what the tags actually sent and what your consent tool said. Received by your own site only, rate-limited, never storing the visitor address.

  4. Meta and Google Ads gap, explained

Neither platform lets anyone read back individual purchases, so daily totals are compared with your order ledger and every such number is labelled as estimated.

  5. Duplicate-plugin detection

Two plugins firing the same purchase event is the most common cause of inflated conversions. The plugin names them.

  6. Fix guides

One plain-English remediation card per reason code.

  7. Where you already work

A Tracking column on the WooCommerce orders list, a tracking box on every order, a dashboard widget, and a Site Health test that turns critical when paid orders stop reaching GA4.

  8. Change log for your site

Plugin updates, activations, theme switches, WooCommerce updates and gateway toggles are recorded with timestamps, so a drop in match rate can be lined up with what changed.

  9. HPOS and block checkout ready

Orders are read only through the WooCommerce order API.

  10. Private by default

Everything lives in your own database. No names, emails, addresses, IPs or user agents are stored; connector credentials are encrypted; nothing is sent anywhere until you connect an account, and every endpoint it can call is listed in the readme.
